Kalahari Goat
Kalahari red goat is a hardy, very adaptable meat goat that could survive the harsh conditions of the African landscape while still maintaining a high birth rate, high survival rate and a profitable meat carcass. Emphasis was also put on mothering traits and adaptability. The so-called Kalahari Reds were born, named after the colour of the sand in the Kalahari Desert.
What is the difference between Boer Goat and Kalahari Red?
Kalahari Red’s are a distinct and separate breed of Goat. They are not related to the Boer Goat and have additional advantages to the original boer goat breed: enhanced meat tenderness, the hardiness of the animal and the camouflage which improves the survival of their kids.

The most distinct visual characteristic of Kalahari Red goats is their red coat color. White or light shades of red are not desirable, as they do not provide as much camouflage from predators in their native pastures. They also have strong herding instincts for protection as well. Kalahari Reds have long, floppy ears.
How many times does a Kalahari goat give birth in a year?
Generally, newborn kids are strong and have a strong urge to suck. They herd well, and animlas flock together. They breed all year round, and will kid three times in two years. In 2000 we decided that the future of the Kalahari Reds and the Ennobled Boer Goat lie overseas.
What are the advantages of the Kalahari Red goat?
They grow relatively fast and are also very suitable for commercial goat meat farming business.
